Leaded X-Ray Glass for All Applications

Radiation Protection Products' leaded glass-also known as leaded x-ray glass, x-ray glass, and radiation protection glass-is suitable for installation in screens, windows, walls, and doors. Light amber in color, our leaded x-ray glass allows technicians to view the imaging or radiation therapy procedures.

Leaded glass has a number of uses, primarily in the medical industry. Leaded x-ray glass from RPP provides full radiation protection, but is transparent and easy to see through for observation purposes. Our radiation protection glass delivers superior visual clarity and high light transmission, with little to no distortion, even in our thickest available varieties. Our leaded glass can be used effectively in x-ray rooms, radiation therapy rooms, laboratories, and many other applications.

Radiation Protection Glass Up to 108" x 54"

Radiation Protection Products offers leaded glass in a variety of standard sizes to meet the needs of nearly any application. Our specially designed radiation protection glass consists of 1/16" leaded glass laminated into a piece of clear float. This design will help your facility meet specifications requiring both safety properties and lead properties in all vision panels.

We offer leaded glass is in the following standard equivalencies:

  • 1.6mm
  • 2.0mm
  • 2.5mm
  • 3.2mm

Equivalencies are based on 150kV. Leaded x-ray glass with higher lead equivalencies is available upon request. Contact RPP with your lead equivalency requirements.

A 1/16" panel of RPP's radiation protection glass is ultimately approximately 1/2" thick and consists of the following components:

 

  • Approximately 7.0mm thick leaded glass
  • 1.5mm thick clear interlayer (laminate)
  • 4.0mm thick clear coat

 

At sizes up to 108" by 54", RPP can produce the largest lead x-ray glass on the market!

Safety Glazing Requirements

Radiation Protection Products' Category II Architectural safety leaded x-ray glass meets category I and category II requirements of the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) Federal Standard 16-CFR-1201. Our leaded glass also complies with model building code safety standards for human impact performance as found in section 2703 of SBCCI Standard Building Code and Section 54-2 of ICBO Uniform Building Code.
